Advance Call Manager FAQs Activation/Installation | Upgrade | Use | Using Advance Call Manager | When I have Answering machine reject action selected and someone calls me, they can hear a beeping sound during message recording. Can this be muted? | Top | | | In some countries it is illegal to record a conversation without the knowledge of the other person involved. That is why Nokia phones are beeping while recording calls. Beeps are produced on a lower-level of the phone and mean to remind the caller that they are being recorded. | | | Can ACM reject calls from a group of phone numbers that begin with the same prefix? | Top | | | No, ACM can reject calls from contacts grouped in a list only. | | | Can ACM reject SMS Messages as well? | Top | | | ACM can not reject SMS messages. | | | I have a Nokia N78/N95/N96/6110/6210/N76/E90 and I get “Update Error”/"Incompatible APS Server version detected" when I am trying to use / install ACM. What is this? | Top | | | If you are getting the "Update Error" during installation of ACM, please download and install the latest version from this site.
If you receive “incompatible APS-Server Version detected” during activation of the answering machine functionality, then you need to either uninstall the incompatible version or use ACM without the answering machine functionality. Bear in mind that if you uninstall the incompatible version of APS-Server, another application installed on your device might stop working. | | | I have a Nokia N78/N95/N96/6110/6210/N76/E90 and I get a notice that “Answering Machine” is not enabled. What should I do? | Top | | | To enable the "Answering Machine" capabilities APS Server should be additionally installed.
The application will offer you to install APSS v.2.2.2 which is needed for the answering machine of ACM.
You could go to Options > Enable Answ. Mach. and trigger the installation yourself anytime. | | | I have Nokia N71/N76 and when using the answering machine and the device is fold, greetings are played on the loudspeaker. Why is that so? | Top | | | This is a standard behaviour of clam-shell devices defined at a hardware level. The phone automatically routs the call through the loudspeaker when the device is fold as it is supposed that you use the phone in a distant mode. | | | I would like to make ACM reject my video calls as well. Can this be done? | Top | | | If you would like to make ACM reject your video calls as well, you need to open the application, click on “Preferences” from the “Options” menu, select “Lines” and set “Video/Data Line” to “On”. By default, this option is set to “Off”. | | | Will I lose my settings if I (re-)format my device? | Top | | | Yes, you will lose all your settings if you (re-)format your device. You need to install, activate and set up the application anew. | | | I have a Samsung S60 3rd edition device and when my ACM is active and a call is rejected a message appears on my device screen advising me that I have a missed call. Can this be avoided? | Top | | | Samsung S60 3rd edition devices treat the rejected calls as missed. Even if you reject a call using the hang-up button, the same message would appear on your screen. | | | How can I define whether the list I create would be a black list or a white list? | Top | | | No matter how you name your lists, you define whether they would be “Black” or “White” lists by the “Active Mode” you select.
For example, you have created a new list called “White”: if you select “Reject from Black list” as an “Active Mode” and choose ”White” as an applicable list for this mode, all calls from numbers included in this list will be rejected and if you later change the “Active Mode” to “Accept from White list” and choose ”White” as an applicable list for this mode, only calls from numbers included in this list will be accepted. | | | I have selected a reject action but my incoming calls are not handled! | Top | | | In order to apply the Default Action selected you need to select an Active Mode different from "Accept All Calls" because in this particular Active Mode Advanced Call Manager is inactive. | | | I have installed Advanced Call Manager into English. How can I change the language the application runs in? | Top | | | In order to change the language ACM runs in, you need to install the application anew. Just choose your selected language from the list of languages the application will provide you with. | | | I have set up ACM to reject my incoming calls with the Send Busy Tone Default Action but my calls are diverted to my voice mailbox. Why is this so? | Top | | | This means that your provider has forced Divert if Busy on your device. Please go to Tools > Settings > Call divert and deactivate Divert if Busy. | | | Can I hide the ACM indicator? | Top | | | Yes, you can hide the ACM indicator. Please, go to Preferences, select Show Indicator and set it to Off. | | | Can I export the voice messages I have received on the ACM answering machine? | Top | | | No, it is not possible to export your voice messages. | | | How are my incoming calls handled in case I choose "Reject All Personal"/ (BlackBerry) "Custom reject" as an Active Mode? | Top | | | When you choose “Reject all Personal”/ "Custom reject"(BlackBerry) all incoming calls will be rejected and you can additionally assign different Action to people included in your active list. All other incoming calls will be rejected with the “Default Action”. For example, your “Default Action” is “Send Busy Tone” but if your husband/wife calls and you want to reply to him/her by sms, you have to include your husband's/wife’s number in your active list and select “Reject all Personal”/ "Custom reject"(BlackBerry), enter this list and select “Reply by SMS” for your husband/wife under “Action”. | | | I have selected "Accept from White List" as an Active Mode for ACM but the numbers included in my active list are not rejected. | Top | | | The Action you choose does not affect the “White list” because it actually applies to all numbers outside this list, i.e. if you choose “Accept from White list”, only calls from numbers included in this list will be accepted and the other calls will be rejected.
If you would like to reject the numbers included in your active list, you need to select “Reject from black list” as an Active Mode. | | | (BlackBerry) How can I check whether Advanced Call Manager is active? | Top | | | Currently, there is no desktop indicator that the application is active. You need to open the application and press "Options". If "Disable call filtering" (and not "Enable call filtering") is listed there, ACM is active. | | | (BlackBerry) I have used ACM on a Nokia device and now I am using ACM for BlackBerry but I cannot find the "Answering machine" option. Why is that so? | Top | | | The current version of Advanced Call Manager for BlackBerry does not support the Answering machine reject action due to technical limitations. | | | (BlackBerry) Can I divert calls with ACM for BlackBerry? | Top | | | No, it is not possible to divert calls with ACM for BlackBerry. For rejected calls you can mute the ringer, send a busy tone or reply by SMS. | | | Are the greetings I record limited to time? | Top | | | No, the greetings you record are not limited as to time. | | | Can I assign different delays for the Answering Machine for the different callers? | Top | | | No, it is not possible to set different delays for the different callers. All incoming calls which match the current ACM rules will be answered after the current delay specified in the “Answ. Mach. After” option in “Preferences”. | | | (BlackBerry) How are my incoming calls handled in case I select "Reject from Black list" as an Active Mode? | Top | | | If you select "Reject from black list" as an Active Mode, the incoming calls from numbers included in your active list will be rejected with the custom actions pre-selected for these contacts. If you have selected "Use default" for a given contact, the reject action applied would be the current "Default action". | |
